The Last Supper

One of the last things I saw in Milan was Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper.  It was breath-taking to say the least.  It's located in this small church not far from the Duomo.  According to the tour guide, The Last Supper quickly began deteriorating after it was finished and became a large blotch on the wall.  This was due to both the style Da Vinci used to paint The Last Supper as well as the humidity which came from the food served in the room.  The room The Last Super is located in used to be the dining hall for monks, and later became a storage space for cattle.  The current masterpiece I witnessed was a result of a long restoration process which ended in 1999.  The room is now properly humidified to preserve the piece and groups are only allowed in for 15 minutes at a time.  Here are some pictures of the church and, of course, The Last Supper.
